Nov 24 - Costa Heads For Hong Kong To Promote Gibraltar Shipping Sector

The Minister for the Port, Neil Costa, will shortly be heading to Hong Kong as part of the Gibraltar Government’s continuing campaign to “aggressively market the Port of Gibraltar on a global scale.”

Mr Costa will be hosting several events in order to meet top maritime industry executives, shipping associations, operators and ship owners in a move designed to attract more business to Gibraltar.

The Government delegation led by the Minister will include Captain of the Port, Commodore Bob Sanguinetti and Diana Soussi from the Gibraltar Maritime Administration.

A contingent of local private sector shipping representatives will also be making the trip. They will be joined by members of the Gibraltar Government’s office in Hong Kong.

The Minister reiterated that the Port of Gibraltar was a vital component of the Rock’s economic success and that he was keen to give renewed impetus to the efforts of both the Government and the private sector to achieve further economic activity.

Mr Costa said: “I am delighted at the opportunity of travelling to Hong Kong, an international hub of the global maritime industry and be able to showcase the quality professional services offered by the Port of Gibraltar, to an experienced and discerning gathering of shipping experts. The trip and activities that we will be undertaking there are part of the Gibraltar Government’s robust promotion efforts to highlight the commercial and strategic importance of our Port.”
