Feb 13 - Sustainable Traffic Plan 'Expensive and Predictable' Claims GSD
The Opposition has criticized the Government’s recently published Sustainable Traffic, Transport and Parking Plan, claiming that is an ‘expensive exercise with a predictable result.’
GSD Spokesperson for Transport Selwyn Figueras explained that the summary ‘brings very little to the table by way of insight.’ He added that the Government was happy to ‘ignore the GSD’s Integrated Traffic, Transport and Parking Plan and start from scratch, simply because it was a GSD legacy initiative.’
He further noted that the Government ‘could have done so much more on its own initiative but it was clear that they had no intention of spending money on traffic infrastructure in this term of office beyond painting white lines in temporarily vacant plots to try and deal with the parking crisis that arose from their decision to plough on with Commonwealth Park without providing the parking spaces it promised beneath it.’
