Apr 23 - Unite Says ETB Bullying Investigation Delay Due To “Health Issues”

Unite the Union says it would like to make its views public in respect of the process that has been undertaken whereby allegations of bullying and harassment towards 35 Government trainees, Grads, and staff by a senior manager within the Civil Service have been investigated.

Unite says it is pleased that a process has been adhered to by the Chief Secretary and that a report will be provided in the short term. The Union says it has been privy to regular updates on the process and has not seen it appropriate to divulge the reasons for the postponement until now.

The union says it can now confirm that, as a consequence of unfortunate health issues affecting the senior manager in question, the process has been stalled.

Unite says it has always sought for investigations to be sensitive to the particulars of each party and, as a consequence of Government adhering to this policy, Unite understands the apparent delays in the process.

Unite says it is only interested in ensuring that a “robust investigation is undertaken, reflective of a fair, transparent and modern industrial relations process.”

Unite says it has defended the interests of its members from the outset and will continue to do so. Pending any further significant developments, Unite also reserves its right to comment on this matter further.
