Aug 05 - Penny Mordaunt Visits The Rock
Penny Mordaunt MP, the Minister of State for the Armed Forces, is visiting Gibraltar. This is the latest in a programme of visits to meet members of the Armed Forces deployed outside the UK.
Although her programme is focused on British Forces Gibraltar, but will include a short courtesy call on the Chief Minister (by video conference) and the Deputy Chief Minister. It is planned that the Minister and the Chief Minister will meet again in the early autumn.
Minister for the Armed Forces, Penny Mordaunt said:
“I am delighted tohave the opportunity to visit Gibraltar so early in my role as Minister of State for the Armed Forces. I welcome the chance to meet Defence personnel during my visit, including members of the Navy’s Gibraltar Squadron. I am proud of the professionalism, pride and commitment they show every day as the squadron helps to demonstrate sovereignty over the territorial waters.
“I look forward to constructive discussions with the Chief Minister Mr Picardo, and the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Garcia and His Excellency the Governor and I hope to explore these discussions further with the Chief Minister in the autumn.”
