Nov 03 - Backgammon Association Of Gibraltar To Host Weekly Meetings

The Backgammon Association of Gibraltar is very pleased to state that the first backgammon Open Session held on Wednesday 28^th October was a great success.

During the session the attendees were able to start on their rating/ranking points system. This enabled the Association to fulfil one of the membership conditions set by the European Backgammon Federation at a very early stage.

Consequently, and due to the demand from players, it has been decided to organise weekly, rather than monthly, Open Sessions. These will be held on Wednesdays, starting on Wednesday 4^th November, from 7.30pm at Latinos Casemates Upper Lounge (except for a Christmas break and tournaments etc). The playing fee will be for members £2 per session and £5 for non-members (unless they sign up as members on the night for a fee of £5 up to March 2016).

Due to the numbers of players expected to attend it is requested that players attending bring their own backgammon playing boards etc, if possible, to add to those already made available by the Association. This would ensure that as many games as possible are played.

All ranking/rating matches will need to be played at either the Open Sessions or tournaments organised under the auspices or with the support of the BAG.

The Association has also set the week commencing 25^th January 2016 for the BAG Qualifying Tournament. The four top players in this Qualifying Tournament will gain free entry, at the Intermediate Level, to the International Tournament to be held at The Caleta Hotel from 7^th to 11^th February 2016.
