Nov 06 - Help Promote The Rock With #VisitGibraltar

The Gibraltar Tourist Board (GTB) is calling for the community’s help as it enters into the world of social media.

The aim is for users to upload photos and videos of Gibraltar using the hashtag #VisitGibraltar to social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the world to learn about the Rock and see what it has to offer.

To further help promote Gibraltar’s brand, there is also a Gibraltar “business card” which carries key information about the Rock and can be collected for free from the Gibraltar Tourist Board for people to hand out when they go away on holiday.

Caretaker Minister for Tourism Samantha Sacramento explains that this all started with her predecessor Neil Costa while he held the portfolio for tourism, in re-branding the ‘Visit Gibraltar’ logo.

Miss Sacramento said: “What we want is for the Rock to take ownership of our brand because Gibraltar belongs to the Gibraltarians, it doesn’t just belong to the tourist board.

“We have our iconic logo, recognised in many places all over the world, and we just want to let everybody know what Gibraltar is and what it has to offer.”

The new campaign will see video, images and the logo placed at key tourist spots, such as the hotels, cruise terminal and the airport, the frontier queue loop, as well as local shops, restaurants and taxis, to enable them to join in on the #VisitGibraltar community.

Images posted by tourists and locals alike will be shared and re-posted by Justin Bautista, who is heading the social media campaign.
