Dec 21 - Mayor Adolfo Canepa Receives Light Of Bethlehem
This morning, His Worship the Mayor Adolfo Canepa received the Bethlehem Light of Peace on behalf of the people of Gibraltar.
The Light was presented by the Scouts’ Association (Gibraltar Branch) following its collection from the Movimiento Scouts Catolicos, Delegacion de Jerez de la Frontera. The Scouts and Guides will later take the light on to other churches and places of public or cultural importance.
Mr Canepa said: “The Light has been brought to Gibraltar in stages from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Scouts’ Association for all that they do for Gibraltar and I would like to wish everyone in Gibraltar a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
“Peace doesn’t just mean the absence of war, there’s a much deeper concept that has to do with our inner joy and contentment which nothing can take away, and that is the peace that I wish you all.”
