Jan 05 - Mayor’s Awards Announced
His Worship the Mayor Adolfo Canepa will be conferring seven Mayor’s Awards at a special ceremony to be held at City Hall later this month.
His Worship the Mayor and the board for the Mayor’s Awards have extended the New Mayor’s Awards Scheme to widen the nominations to persons or groups who have served Gibraltar in a distinguished manner over a prolonged period and/or for a specific event or achievement.
The Mayor’s Awards committee recently considered a number of nominations for both categories. His Worship is delighted to announce Mayor’s Awards have been conferred as follows:
Mayor’s Silver Award – Louisville Ghio
In recognition of his prompt and selfless response whilst off duty on the 7th October 2014 in assisting an elderly lady suspected of having suffered a cardiac arrest.
Community Award – Mr Pepe Fabre BEM MBE
In recognition of his long and devoted voluntary service to Gibraltar in the Royal British Legion and the Commonwealth Games Association, and charitable work in a number of organisations.
Community Award – Mr Hector Cohen MBE
In recognition of his long and devoted voluntary service to Gibraltar in the fields of trade unionism and charitable work in a number of organisations.
Community Award – Mr Joe Jurado BEM
In recognition of his long and devoted voluntary service to Gibraltar in various charitable and other organisations.
Community Group Awards
The Gibraltar Cheshire Home Support Group
In recognition of the outstanding charitable work carried out over a period of more than 30 years.
Bosom Buddies Cancer Trust
In recognition of outstanding voluntary work with cancer patients, survivors and their families since its foundation more than 10 years ago.
Gibraltar Community Association
In recognition of their outstanding voluntary work supporting sponsored patients financially and in other ways.
