Mar 01 - DPC Rejects ICC Apartments Proposal

The proposal to convert the 7th floor car parking level of the ICC into seven apartments was turned down by members of the Development and Planning Commission at a meeting earlier today.

Members cited concerns about the high demand for parking in the area and the busy nature of the ICC as reasons for refusal.

Minister for Environment and Health, Dr John Cortes, said: “My problem is that this must be the only car park in the world where numbers have dropped.”

He argued that in the past, the Gibraltar Health Authority had to deal with complaints from patients and Primary Care Centre users, and so would have to abstain from voting.

There were four abstentions, three refusals with one member voting in favour of the development.
