Mar 16 - Gibraltar Stamps To Celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday
The Government of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau have issued a set of commemorative stamps to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th Birthday.
The stamps take a look back at her life through a set of nine stamps featuring an image from each of her nine decades. In addition to these nine stamps, a new £5 stamp features a photograph by world famous royal photographer Cecil Beaton licensed for the Gibraltar stamps from the archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The stamps are designed by local designer Stephen Perera. Mr Perera said he was honoured to be able to produce such a historic stamp issue after having also produced the successful stamp issue to commemorate the Queen ‘Longest Reigning Monarch’ stamps last year.
A very limited edition special folder has been issued which has an embossed outer sleeve and includes a four-stamp sheet of the £5 stamp which is only sold within the folder, not separately. The Special Folder is being sold at the face value of the sheet of four stamps on a first come, first served basis.
