Apr 18 – New Recruit For The Royal Gibraltar Regiment

Private (Pte) River Huart (18) is the latest recruit from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment to pass out at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) in Catterick.

The Pass Out Parade, last Friday, marked the culmination of 26 weeks intensive training to complete the Combat Infantryman Course.

All infantry soldiers in the British Army must complete the course which teaches the soldier a number of skills from war-fighting tactics through to ceremonial drill. It is designed to ensure that the newly qualified solider is fully prepared to join their chosen unit and is ready for operational deployment

Joining the Royal Gibraltar Regiment was the realization of Pte Huart’s lifelong aspiration to join the Armed Forces, he explained:

“As far back as I can remember I've always wanted to join the military. I wanted to learn new skills, take on a challenge and become a better version of myself. Joining the Regiment has definitely offered me all of those things and it has allowed me to improve my fitness at the same time. I'm always up for a challenge, and the army definitely has many of them. It is so different from most jobs and the people you work with aren’t just your colleagues, they're more like family.”

“I've really enjoyed the course, it was tough at times but I had strong support from WO2 Drimmie, my friends and family. The Pass Out Parade was great, it felt like a huge achievement but I can't wait to get back to Gibraltar and work alongside the rest of my Regiment.”

Pte Huart will now take a well-deserved break before returning to Catterick to complete a three week education course.
