May 09 - Are Robots Our Future Employees? - Local CIPD Branch Investigates

Following a successful keynote speech at the recent CIPD conference, David D’Souza, the CIPD's Head of Engagement, Branches will be returning to Gibraltar on Friday 20 May to meet the CIPD Gibraltar Branch.  While here he will be giving a talk “The Future of Technology at Work, Are We All Destined to Become Robots?”

David is a frequent and well respected commentator on progressive HR and business issues and, on this occasion, will be discussing his thoughts on the hugely topical and thought provoking issue of automation, technology and ethics.  His talk will cover areas including:

1.         The potential impact of automation and machine learning on the workplace

2.         Varying scenarios around the potential impact of that on HR and the broader economy

3.         The ethics of the connected workplace - quantified self, wearable tech and predicative analytics

4.         The consequent challenges for HR as a profession

Recently described by Workplace Insight magazine as "one of the UK's most influential HR and workplace commentators", he is a respected speaker and blogger on progressive HR & business practice.

David has expertise on a wide range of areas, including organisational development, learning and development, talent and performance management, technology, employee engagement and different working environments.

Prior to joining the CIPD, David worked as an independent Organisational Development Consultant and held previous roles including Head of People Development at Metrobank and various HR positions in international financial services.

The CIPD (Chartered Institute for Personnel Development) is a registered charity which is dedicated to championing better work and working lives. 

The Gibraltar CIPD branch regularly holds events on all aspects of employment for anyone interested in HR.  Recent topics were Payroll and Tax Issues in Gibraltar, a conference on Humanising the Workplace with over 90 attendees from both the private and public sector, Courageous Conversations, and Aligning your Training Needs Analysis to your Business Plan.  These meetings also include a chance to network with HR professionals and business managers in both the public and private sector.

The Gibraltar branch also offers a free mentoring scheme for  members who are is starting their career in HR or who need support in developing themselves further within HR.
