Jul 06 - Bayside Students Receive COPE Qualifications

Last week, a group of Bayside students received their Certificates of Personal Effectiveness (COPE).

The COPE is a nationally recognised qualification awarded by ASDAN. The qualification offers imaginative ways of accrediting young people's learning. It promotes independent work and encourages students to explore new learning opportunities.

Many of the skills developed like team work and problem solving are transferable and ultimately result in students becoming much more confident and better prepared to face the challenges ahead be they further studies or employment.

Melba Noguera, Deputy Head at Bayside Comprehensive School said: “We are very proud of the students who have achieved this GCSE Grade B equivalent qualification. It is now very important that our community and employers recognise the validity and benefits of this alternative route to achievement.”
