Jul 15 – Emergency Response Training For GDP

The Gibraltar Defence Police is currently training all their patrol officers on Emergency Response procedures and techniques. The training is referred to as “Blue Light” training and is a recent addition to the GDP training schedule.

Chief Police Officer, Rob Allen said:

“The safety of our officers and members of the public is of paramount importance; this training will ensure that all our officers are appropriately trained whether they are driving cars or boats”.

The course is presented over five days and incorporates classroom lectures and practical driving exercises around Gibraltar. It is important in any emergency to reach the intended destination as quickly and as safely as possible and this requires giving due regard to the number of persons and traffic on the road at that time.

The GDP wishes to extend their gratitude to H M Customs of Gibraltar for allowing GDP personnel to take part in their initial training session and benefit from the tuition of specialist trainers from the UK.

The GDP continues their close ties with H M Customs and their Training departments regularly meet to discuss future projects.
