Sep 28 - Investiture Ceremony Held At The Convent

His Excellency the Governor, Lt Gen Edward Davis, hosted an Investiture Ceremony at The Convent yesterday; when he will be awarded members of the community different Medals and Awards according to their achievements.  

The following Medals and Awards to the following recipients:

The British Empire Medal (BEM) to:

Mr Allan Joseph ALMAN For services to music and the community in Gibraltar.

After receiving his award, Mr Alman said he was very shocked to have received the medal, thinking that someone set it up as a joke at first. He is now working towards finishing off three rehearsal rooms and a recording studio at the Rock on The Rock club in Town Range. 

Overseas Territories Medals (OTM) (Police) to:

Chief Inspector John CARUANA For services to policing in Gibraltar.

Police Constable Glen BALLANTINE For services to policing in Gibraltar.

Governor's Certificate and Badge of Honour (Gibraltar Award) in recognition of exceptional services in Gibraltar to:

Mr Antonio ALMEIDA For services to Sea Scouts Gibraltar

Mr Robert PUGH For services to Karate-do-Shotokai Gibraltar

Mr Ivan NAVAS For services to the Gibraltar Branch of the European Movement and Education

Commander-in-Chief Commendation to:

Lt Col (Retd) Peter Philip VOWLES For his contribution to the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.

The ceremony was followed by piano performance by 12-year-old Darius Oliva and finally with drinks and canapés served in the Cloisters.
