Nov 11 - Wreath Laying Ceremony At The American War Memorial

The Government has said that, in view of the long and historic relationship between Gibraltar and the United States of America, this year there will again be a ceremonial laying of wreaths at the American War Memorial in order to “honour those who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars in the cause of Freedom.”

The American War Memorial was erected by the United States in 1932 in order to mark the role that Gibraltar played during the First World War in support of the United States Navy. After the Second World War, it became the American War Memorial to honour their fallen servicemen in both Wars.

The ceremony at the American War Memorial will take place immediately after the act of Remembrance at the British War Memorial in Line Wall Road.

The wreath laying will be led by His Excellency the Governor Lt General Edward Davis, representing Her Majesty the Queen, and the Acting Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia, representing the Government and the people of Gibraltar.
