Her Majesty The Queen has approved the following awards:

The Overseas Territories Police Medal (OTPM) to Inspector John Goodman for services to policing in Gibraltar.

His Excellency the Governor, Lt Gen Edward Davis has awarded the Gibraltar Award in recognition of exceptional services in Gibraltar to:

Miss Jacqueline Castro and Miss Christine Castro (Joint Award) for services to Cat Welfare in Gibraltar.

Ms Tamara Gomez for services to Social Services in Gibraltar.

Local Reaction

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Gibraltar Association reacted to the announcement in its newsletter: “It was disappointing to note that the 2017 New Year’s Honours list brought nothing by way of local recipients. The committee, and indeed individual members of the committee, have been making nominations at regular intervals, in fact some should still be in the system. That none of these nominations should be successful is disheartening.”
