Jan 11 - MoD To Go Ahead With Guardhouse Demolition

At a meeting of the MoD Conservation Group today the MoD confirmed that it will be going ahead with the demolition of the Guardhouse at Gunwharf.

The Heritage Trust says this is expressly against the DPC recommendations taken at the meeting of the Commission in December 2016.

A statement from the Trust continued: “The Trust is extremely frustrated at this turn of events as it has been opposing this demolition through the official channels since we first learned of the threat to this building. This incident highlights the dire need for the introduction of the new Planning Act and Heritage Act which will bind both the MoD and the Government to planning decisions and enable the listing of buildings.”
