Feb 07 – Regiment Welcomes Latest Recruits

Private Patterson and Private Jonson passed out on Friday 20 January after completing the 26-week Combat Infantryman's Course at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick.

Pte Patterson (18) said: "I wanted to join the army as a little kid. Ever since I was young I heard all the stories from my father, who served in the Artillery, the Parachute Regiment, the Submarine Service and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. My grandfather served in the Navy as well. Although I never got to meet him my mother moved all over thanks to his line of work and got to see many parts of the world. I wanted to join the Army because I wanted to experience the companionship and brotherhood you create in this line of work in particular. I wanted to see different parts of the globe, and get paid to do so whilst keeping fit and, if needed, fight for things that I believe in".

Pte Jonson (32): "The reasons why I wanted to join the army are; to get a better career, a better life for my family. I am now 32 years of age and have two kids. By joining the Army I would be able to be a good role model for my kids, and make them want to follow in my footsteps".
