Dec 04 - PC Elliot Mor Retires After 44 Years Of Service
Police Constable Elliot Mor has recently retired after 44 years of service to the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
A spokesperson for the MOD said: "Police Constable Elliot Mor joined the MOD as an apprentice Mechanical Fitter in 1974, transferring to the Defence Police in February 1990. His early years within the Force saw him carrying out duties at RAF Gibraltar before moving on to the Marine Unit by 1999, after successfully completing all marine mandatory training. Subsequent years saw him attaining experience and confidence in this field, until eventually taking up the post as permanent coxswain within his section.
"Not content with this, he undertook the Police Search Officers Course in 2004, this saw him regularly forming part of a combined team together with RGP colleagues. In the same year he also attended a Sea Survival Maintainer and Supervisors course in the UK – he became the lead officer for the Force in this field, often engaging with other law enforcement agencies.
"In 2005 he volunteered for the Battle of Trafalgar 200th anniversary celebrations in Portsmouth, spending more than two weeks assisting with the policing and security of the event alongside police forces in the UK, an experience he will never forget.
"His last venture was in 2016, where he assisted in the smooth running of the London Olympics. He was posted to Poole in Dorset, where he was part of a vast team, entrusted in protecting participants at most of the sea-faring events."
Police Constable Elliot Mor said: “After over 44 years of service I will definitely miss my colleagues and the good times that I shared with them. I encourage the younger generation to pursue a career in policing as it is a rewarding and challenging profession, encountering different situations on a daily basis”.
The Deputy Chief Police Officer of the Gibraltar Defence Police, Superintendent Kevin McAndrew said: “A superb and dedicated Police Officer, demonstrating his ability to perform outstanding commitment in all departments that he has served. Elliott represents everything that is good about the GDP. I am sorry to see him go but I understand that it is time for him to enjoy his retirement alongside his wife and family”.
