Feb 28 - International Women’s Day Gala Dinner

The week leading up to March 8th will see International Women's Day celebrated in Gibraltar.

An event that is celebrated and marked throughout the world, IWD now features in the calendars of local organisations and companies who take the time to celebrate the achievements of local women and to raise awareness of progress in the areas of diversity and equality. With this year's theme being #balanceforbetter, the events will highlight the part everyone has to play in building a gender balanced world.

Sunborn Gibraltar will host this year's Gala dinner on the 7^th March at 8pm and have invited Women in Business and One Media Events to collaborate on the event.

This year the dinner offers an exciting an innovative opportunity for the participants to engage in active dialogue and debate with each other and with the four Forum Facilitators: Nyreen Llamas, CSO of Addison Global, Peter Mares, of Playtech and of Girls in Tech, Nuria Harjani from Intercash and Ruth Massias Greenberg of Gamma Architects.

Each will be providing insights into their own experiences with diversity and balance with a view to launching a discussion amongst the participants. The round table dialogues will take place over dinner and will be followed by a forum report back of ideas, anecdotes and action points arising from the participants dinner time discussions.

Denise Matthews of One Media Events said "The aim of this year's event is to bring men and women into the conversation to mark IWD, to provide food for thought and raise positive and constructive ideas that can be used by local businesses and organisations in addressing the need for a gender balanced society. As someone who is in position to help other women get to where they should be this is a cause I feel strongly about. Aside from a celebration there must be resolutions for action and dialogue throughout Gibraltar on the issues that are highlighted by IWD."

Women in Business chair Janet Brear added "WIB has celebrated International Women's Day with a dinner for many years now and it is wonderful to see how many organisations and companies are taking the opportunity to organise events and mark the occasion."
