“Numerous Attempts” Made By Authorities To Assist Woman - GHA Commissions “Full Investigation”
The Care Agency and the GHA have said that “numerous attempts” had been made to assist a woman who was shown to be living in a state of extreme squalor in a video circulated on social media earlier this week. The authorities say the woman “resisted” these attempts.
The video shows the woman lying on the floor of her flat surrounded by bags of rubbish, old newspapers and used tissues.
A government spokesperson, in reply to questions from YGTV, said: “The Care Agency and GHA are aware of the video in circulation. In the past, there have been numerous attempts to assist the lady shown in the video but she has resisted all attempts to help her, despite persistent attempts by the Care Agency to do so.
“This matter is sensitive and personal in nature so the Care Agency and GHA will not provide further details, in line with our data protection obligations under GDPR. However, the GHA has commissioned a full investigation into the case.”
