The Ladies That Rock The Rock Gala Dinner

Organised by businesswoman Ayelet Mamo Shay, the founder of the Award Program and author of the book “The Ladies That Rock The Rock”, a gala dinner event recognised the inspirational accomplishments of the women who have most influenced Gibraltar’s social, economic and cultural life. The winning ladies were chosen by a committee, out of hundreds of nominations submitted over the past few months.
A statement continued: “The event brought together women and men from different backgrounds, including business leaders, public sector, online gaming, banking, financial services and more. Minister for Equality Christian Santos opened the evening, expressing his thanks to Ayelet and highlighting in his speech the importance of giving recognition and gratitude for the contribution that these Ladies have made to our society. Deputy Governor- Marc Holland- presented the awards to the winning 10 ladies. During the Gala dinner, guests were treated to a range of inspirational activities, including an insightful panel with some of the winning ladies moderated by Chloe Loddo, a duo of professional dancers/entertainers, a magician, performance by the local singer Surianne, a photo booth, wax hand casting, networking opportunities and a massive raffle with over 60 prizes, with 10% of the proceeds to be donated to GBC Open Day. The theme of the night was A Journey Around the World reflecting on the inspirational tips and encounters featured in Ayelet’s book, from her travels across many countries.”
Commenting on the event, Ayelet Mamo Shay said:
“The Ladies That Rock The Rock Awards Gala Dinner has become a cornerstone of our annual celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) in Gibraltar, and we certainly celebrated in style this time around! It was not just a gathering; it was a vibrant tribute to the remarkable contributions of women who have made an impact in our community and beyond. Let us continue to unite in our efforts to empower and celebrate women, making every International Women’s Day a powerful reminder of the incredible impact they have on our world. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Ministry of Equality for their unwavering support as well as to all our sponsors and contributors who generously donated prizes for the evening. Your involvement is invaluable, and without your support, this event would not have been possible.”
As part of the IWD activities, Ayelet Mamo Shay has also delivered two workshops and a presentation at the University of Gibraltar, titled “She Did It!”, featuring the life stories of famous and inspirational ladies from around the world. Ayelet has also made a generous donation of 55 copies of her recently released book, “The Ladies That Rock The Rock: 2nd Edition”, to high school students at Bayside School, reflecting her belief in the importance of empowering the younger generation through role models.
