British Army Judo Returns To The Rock

After several years, British Army Judo returned to Gibraltar with a week long training camp bringing together soldiers, local athletes, and members of the wider martial arts community.
A statement from British Forces Gibraltar follows below:
After several years, British Army Judo made a long-awaited return to Gibraltar. The week long training camp brought together soldiers, local athletes, and members of the wider martial arts community for an intense yet rewarding experience.
Among those representing the Army team was Warrant Officer Ethaniel Jeffries-Mor, a dedicated Judoka who trains both locally and with the Army squad. The week’s schedule was demanding, featuring three training sessions a day that pushed participants to their limits while strengthening bonds across disciplines.
In an inspiring show of collaboration, the Army Judokas also joined forces with Angry Chill Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, creating a unique cross-training environment that blended styles, techniques, and traditions. Special thanks go to Sensei Lee Tierny and Sensei Abdul for their support and contribution.
The highlight of the week came with the arrival of Jesús Fernández (8th Dan) and other International Judo Federation Judo Masters, who delivered two days of masterclasses focused on advanced techniques and the deeper philosophy of The Judo Way.
Beyond the dojo, the team tested their endurance with beach circuits, WWII tunnel runs, and conditioning sessions designed to build both mental and physical resilience. Even with such a packed agenda, other Army Judokas, including Major Dayan Pozo and William Cross made time to join in between their busy regimental duties.
The return of Army Judo to Gibraltar was more than just a training event it was a celebration of camaraderie, discipline, and the enduring spirit of martial arts.
