May 16 - Gibraltar Kennel Club Accepted into International Kennel Club
16 May 2013
The Gibraltar Kennel Club was recently accepted as a full member of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI), the international federation of kennel clubs following a secret ballot held by member countries who voted to accept Gibraltar’s application by a majority of 32 votes to 26.
The Chief Minister today congratulated the Kennel Club, focusing particularly on the work done by Lawrence Llamas, who successfully argued Gibraltar’s position in the face of strong opposition from Spain and Argentina. Mr. Picardo also thanked the Government's Chief Legal Advisor, Michael Llamas for giving his support and advice to the Gibraltar's Kennel Club bid.
