Aug 13 - Gibraltar Award Reception – Governor Extends Invite To Next Of Kin

His Excellency the Governor, Sir Adrian Johns, has extended an invitation to the next-of-kin of Recipients of the Gibraltar Award who are unable to attend the Gibraltar Award Reception on Thursday 12th September.

Sir Adrian said: “Through our enquiries we have discovered that many recipients of the Gibraltar Award have either sadly passed away or are no longer living in Gibraltar. Where this is the case, or where a Recipient cannot attend for other personal reasons, we would like to extend the invitation to their next of kin. This will ensure that, despite their absence, we can still honour and remember the good work of these individuals.”

The Reception, which will be held in the garden of the Convent at 6.30pm on Thursday 12th September, is intended to celebrate the achievements of all those who have received the Gibraltar Award since its inception in 1957 and to present holders with a yellow silk lapel rosette which may be worn on informal occasions.

The Convent is making a final request for anyone who has previously been awarded the Gibraltar Award (or Governor’s Certificate and Badge of Honour) to contact the Convent on 200 45440 or email their name and address to This email address is being protected from spambots. Alternatively, if you know of anyone who has received the Gibraltar Award but is no longer living in Gibraltar or you are the next of kin of a recipient of the Gibraltar Award the staff at the Convent would be delighted to hear from you.
