Dec 17 - City Fire Brigade Warn Public Against Using Chinese Lanterns
The City Fire Brigade Fire Safety Department has informed the public that the use of Sky Lanterns, also known as Chinese Sky Lanterns, is not permitted in Gibraltar.
The Force claims that Sky Lanterns present a serious fire hazard when used inappropriately. They should not be used in built-up areas or within 5 miles of an airport or in coastal areas where lanterns may be interpreted as a distress signal. Clearly, this includes the whole of Gibraltar.
The CFB would also like to remind the public of the safe use of fireworks. These should be purchased locally from accredited suppliers and the manufacturer’s instructions should be strictly adhered to.
