Mar 25 - Pedestrians Pass Quickly as Monday Frontier Queues Target Bicycles and Motor Vehicles

frontier queueFrontier queues yesterday evening focused on both motor vehicles and bicycles, with a free flow of pedestrian traffic through the Gibraltar – Spain border. Cyclists were forced to queue for a maximum of an hour and 15 minutes during the height of Monday evening’s frontier queues into Spain.

Although there was no queue for pedestrians, which has become a fairly regular occurrence on Monday evenings, vehicles passed through the stringent border controls at an alarmingly slow rate of almost 6 cars per half hour at half past seven in the evening.

Queues began to form at 3 o’clock in the afternoon and continued up until 9 O’clock in the evening, with most vehicle drivers waiting up to an hour and half to pass through controls. By 10pm the queues had cleared entirely and the normal flow of traffic was restored.
