Mar 27 - Gibraltar Gaming Association to Present Legal Challenge Against UK Gambling Bill

news Gibraltar is set to launch a judicial review on the UK government’s Point of Consumption tax regulatory model, which will be passed over the next couple of weeks.

The news was announced by Brian Mattingley of 888 Holdings, in an interview with eGaming Review, an online publication on Gaming. The UK Government’s proposal will introduce a 15% tax on ‘all remote gaming gross profits in December.’ The bill will also act as a way for the UK to regulate operators around the World, including Gibraltar, which prides itself on having firm gaming regulations.

Mr. Mattingley told the publication that the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association are working with locally based traders to decide on what is best for the consumer. The group, which is made up of a number of leading firms in Gibraltar, is hoping to delay the implementation time. The possibility of a legal battle has been on the cards for some time, and could be the only way to alter any aspect of the bill.
