Apr 11 - GFA to Appoint Independent Body to Explore DPC Concerns

dpcFollowing this week’s DPC meeting discussing the GFA’s proposed Europa Point Stadium project, the Association has thanked all members of the Commission and the public, for their contribution at the open meeting.

The Football Association believes that ‘the thoughts and ideas of all Gibraltarians are important to the successful development of a new national stadium, which is essential to our continued membership of UEFA and will enable us to host international fixtures within our own borders.’

The GFA insisted that they have been as open and transparent as possible throughout the process leading up to the DPC meeting, adding that the open nature of the process at such an early stage will ensure that ‘Gibraltar achieves a world-class sports facility that will hopefully become the epitome of what our proud nation stands for.’

The Association welcomes the support and acknowledges the concerns raised by objectors regarding the design and location. They are set to expand upon both the traffic plan and Environmental Impact Assessment, which upon completion, will see the project face the DPC once again. They claim that further aspects needs to be analysed, including the visual impact on the Europa Point area. A fully independent body will also be appointed to clarify in more detail other concerns expressed.
