Apr 11 - Governor on Technical Services Department Visit
His Excellency the Governor Sir James and Lady Dutton recently visited the Technical Services Department. Paul Balban, Minister for Traffic, Housing and Technical Services and Hector Montado, Chief Technical Officer accompanied His Excellency and Lady Dutton around the Department where they met all members of staff.
The visit started with the Minister explaining the different areas of responsibility under his Ministry, including Traffic and Housing.
During their walking tour, the role and involvement of Technical Services Department in various projects were explained, such as the Sustainable Traffic, Transport and Parking Plan and Coastal Management Policy. The visit concluded with a brief presentation on the work with the Geographical Information System. Here, they showed the Governor and Lady Dutton the potential of the use of digital mapping in strategic decision making.
Minister Balban said, ‘It is truly a pleasure to have His Excellency and Lady Dutton visiting the Ministry to meet the staff and gain an insight into the work carried out within the Ministry for Traffic, Housing and Technical Services.’
