Jun 12 - Convent to Host Open Day 2014

gov dutton The Convent will once again open its doors to the public on Saturday 28th June, when Sir James and Lady Dutton will host the popular Convent Open Day and are very much looking forward to welcoming the public to the Convent.

The beautiful Convent garden will be the setting for cream teas, gardening stands and plant stalls. The formal rooms of the Convent will also be open to the public, including the Banqueting Hall with its extensive display of heraldry and the Ballroom where the Fine Arts Society will exhibit a selection of paintings. Throughout the day there will be displays by the Gibraltar Defence Police Dog Section and children’s activities, including a bouncy castle and static paintball.

The Convent Open Day is a popular event and we will continue the tradition of raising money for charity. Proceeds from this year’s Open Day will go towards the Little Smiles Charity and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

Doors will be open from 11am until 3pm. Advance tickets will be available from Tuesday 17th June from the Convent Main Reception between 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Tickets are free for Gibraltar residents (proof of residency will be required both on collection and admission on the day).

Tickets for non-residents are priced at £2 for adults and £1 children (under 16) and senior citizens. Ticket numbers are limited. Tickets will also be available on the day, subject to availability.

Disabled access to the Convent reception areas and most of the garden is available. Anyone with special needs or requiring assistance is encouraged to contact the Convent in advance. Pushchairs and prams will not be admitted to the garden although storage space will be available in the cloister.
