Oct 02 - Betfair Pledges to Retain Presence in Gibraltar
The World’s largest betting exchange, Betfair has insisted that it will uphold a presence in Gibraltar, following the recent exit of two Directors. A report in eGaming Review claimed that the company’s Gaming Director and director of VIP left early this week, with the sports VIP director also pegged to leave.
The announcement comes amidst a period of uncertainty for the gaming sector on the Rock, with a new tax and regulating legislation set to come into play next month, depending on the outcome of the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association’s lawsuit against the UK Government. Lord Justice Green’s judgement is expected very soon.
A spokesman for Betfair told the publication that the operator is fully committed to retaining its presence in Gibraltar, a presence that it has held since 2011, when the company moved into its Waterport Place offices.
