Oct 15 - Youth Service Works with RGP on Residential Weekend

youth retreatThe Gibraltar Youth Service has been working on a partnership project with the Royal Gibraltar Police with a group of young people from Plater Youth Club. The Charity Committee of the Royal Gibraltar Police approached the Principal Youth Officer earlier this year and offered to fund a Residential weekend for young people.

A group of 14 young people from Plater Youth Club have been participating in a programme of activities including team building, cooking activities and club meetings for the past month. After getting to know each other the group went to a residential weekend from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th October 2014. Young people benefited from taking part in nature walks, canoeing, horse riding, archery and rock climbing. This residential has given the young people new opportunities to develop their personal and social development and build relationships of trust with youth workers and police officers. The Principal Youth Officer and the Commissioner of the Royal Gibraltar Police visited the group on Saturday afternoon.

The two services continue to strengthen their ties to work together for the benefit of young people. Other events will be planned with the RGP during midterm that can further enhance the learning opportunities for young people.

The Youth Service is continually on the look-out for new members between the ages of 11 and 18. More information can be obtained by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
