Dec 02 – Sapper Chalice Unveiled
Major General Richard Semple CBE visited Gibraltar last weekend to present a “Sapper Chalice” to the King’s Chapel which has been donated by the Royal Engineers.
Serving and ex-members of the Royal Engineers attended a Church Service held in the King’s Chapel on Sunday. The Service was also marked by the consecration of the new Royal Engineers flag which was donated by the Corps.
Reverend Mark Jackson led the service of consecration as the chalice was formally gifted by Major General Semple to British Forces Gibraltar, received by Commander British Forces.
The Corps of Royal Engineers has played a pivotal role in Gibraltar since 1704 and the presentation of the chalice marked the strong link between the Rock and the Corps.
