Mar 10 - Royal Navy Submarine HMS Torbay on the Rock

HMS Torbay, a Royal Navy Trafalgar-class nuclear submarine arrived at the Naval Base on Saturday to carry out scheduled operational tasking, including Safety Harbour Training.
During the vessel’s time in Gibraltar it will conduct warning broadcasts and make use of a smoke simulator. The vessel uses the new command system SMCS-NG operating under Microsoft Windows. Torbay is scheduled to be decommissioned this year, to be replaced a new Astute class submarines. The submarine is the fifth vessel, and second submarine to be dubbed ‘Torbay’.
