Jun 18 – Website Launch And New Appointments For University Of Gibraltar’s Board Of Governors

Progress is underway for the University of Gibraltar, with the launch of the website as well as two new appointments made to the Board of Governors announced earlier today.

The Minister for Education, Gilbert Licudi, together with Professor Daniella Tillbury, Vice-Chancellor (designate), gave details of the website and showed how prospective students can navigate its pages to find out more about the University and enrolment.

Additionally, the two new members of the Board of Governors were announced, and they are - Chairman of the Board, Jose Julio Pisharello, Country Managing Partner of EY, and Peter Montegriffo, Senior Partner at Hassans, who will be a member of the board.

Mr Licudi said: “It is tremendously satisfying to see the University continue to progress towards its opening in September.

“The launch of the website and the appointments to the Board of Governors are highly significant steps in the work that continues daily behind the scenes to make this ambitious dream become a tangible reality.”

Mr Pisharello and Mr Montegriffo both added that they were delighted to be part of such an exciting project for Gibraltar, in particular as the Gibraltar brand is already known internationally for the economy and culture, and this will add to its list.

The website provides information not just on the academic programmes, which start as from 21st September, that the University will provide but also on Gibraltar as a place to study.

The website is now live for users to log in to see what is on offer, and Dr Darren Fa, the University’s Director of Academic Programmes and Research, explained that the website will continue to grow and develop as more pages are added to include academic partnerships, affiliated researchers and facilities.

Some of the courses already on offer for September are undergraduate degrees in Accounting & Finance, Banking & Finance, Business & Management and a degree in Nursing. There will also be postgraduate diploma courses and short courses aimed at professionals who would like to further their qualifications.
