Jul 10 – Overseas Territories Conservation And Sustainability Conference Starts Tomorrow
Over a hundred delegates from across the globe are in Gibraltar to participate in “Sustaining Partnerships”, a conference on conservation and sustainability in UK Overseas Territories, Crown Dependencies and other small island communities.
The five day long event will take place at the Eliott Hotel and will be a busy mixture of field trips, presentations, working groups and discussions.
Speaking at a press conference this morning, the Minister for the Environment, Dr John Cortes, said the conference was of “tremendous value” as it had brought to the Rock “prominent people in the world of nature conservation and sustainability.”
Dr Cortes added that the conference, and the ministers’ meeting which ends it, would provide opportunities to ensure that the interests of Overseas Territories are represented both in the UK and internationally.
