Jul 15 – IDO President To Visit Gibraltar For IDO European Championships

The Gibraltar National Dance Organisation is delighted to announce that the President of the World Governing body the International Dance Organisation, Michael Wendt, will be leading the delegation that will be coming to Gibraltar in October for the IDO European Show Dance Championships.

Mr Wendt, who is a firm supporter of Gibraltar, will be the official supervisor for the IDO Europeans that is being organised by the GNDO and Santos Productions. Michael Wendt is no new comer to Gibraltar having travelled to the Rock as a judge for the Miss Gibraltar Pageant and for the 2011 IDO European Championships held in Gibraltar.

IDO President Michael Wendt said: “I am delighted to be able to travel to the wonderful Rock of Gibraltar and be part of this unique IDO Championships.

“The IDO is a free and independent World dance sport organisation and we want all European dancers not miss this extraordinary opportunity to come to Gibraltar and compete in the biggest and strongest stage of the them all, being the IDO Championships.”

Michael Wendt will be travelling to Gibraltar with his wife Christa, who will be assisting with the electronic judging and scrutineering system that will be introduced at this official IDO Championship.

Commenting on the announcement, GNDO President Seamus Byrne said: “The GNDO is thrilled that IDO President Michael Wendt will be heading the IDO delegation of officials at this year’s IDO European Championships. Mr Wendt has being, and continues to be, one of the biggest IDO Ambassadors in the 34 year history of the IDO.

“As an IDO competition organiser, as the IDO Ambassador for Asia and Asia Pacific, as IDO Vice-President for 15 years and subsequently IDO President since 2014, Michael Wendt is truly the leading figure in our prominent world governing body.

“We are confident that with the advice and support of Michael Wendt, our tourism-led event Championships on behalf of Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar will be a success.”

During the next weeks, the GNDO will be announcing all the top IDO officials that will make this year’s European Championships. Ticket information will also be released shortly. The 2015 IDO European Show Dance Championships will be held from Thursday 1^st October to Sunday 4^th October 2015 at the Tercentenary Sports Hall.
