The Gibraltar International Backgammon Championship will be held at the Caleta Hotel from 11th to 14th February. Already approximately 200 professional backgammon players have enrolled and some 50 players at intermediate level. The Backgammon Association of Gibraltar wishes to encourage as many local players as possible to enrol for the Championship by accessing the event’s webpage: www.gibraltarbackgammon.com.

A spokesperson said: “We wish to take this opportunity to remind backgammon players that the Association’s weekly meetings and rating matches (Wednesdays as from 7.30pm at Latinos Casemates) will resume as from 3rd February 2016. On that day the first doubles session will be held. This is planned to be played on a more regular basis in the future as it forms part of the European Nations competition system and also included in many International Backgammon Tournaments.”
