The Eurohockey Under 18 Girls Championships will be hosted in Gibraltar this week.

The Minister for Sport, Steven Linares, wishes the Gibraltar team the best of luck for the tournament: “This tournament, which will start on Wednesday evening, will be another step in the development of this group of players who have been working very hard alongside their coaches in the lead up to the event. They will no doubt face stiff opposition from Switzerland and Wales and I wish them the best of luck in their efforts. I urge the general public to cheer them on at the Bayside Sports Centre, which will host another in a long line of international events in recent months”.

Gibraltar will play its first match against Wales on Wednesday at 7pm.

Linares Congratulates local rowers on success at British Junior Rowing Championships

Following their Silver medal success at the British Rowing Championships (Juniors) the Minister for Sport, Steven Linares, has congratulated Jake Moreno and Jack Prior on their achievement.

“It was very gratifying to receive news of Jake and Jack’s performance and result in Nottingham last weekend. They came through an extremely strong field and pulled off an excellent result in the J16 double sculls event. This is an achievement that cannot be underestimated. Year on year the results obtained by local rowers at this event keep getting better and better and it is a reflection of the hard work and dedication that both the oarsmen/women and the coaches invest in their sport. A special mention must also be made of all other team members from Calpe Rowing Club who participated and also put in sterling performances. Well done to all!”
