The Gibraltar Sports & Leisure Authority is working in partnership with the Physical Activities Association for Mature Older Adults (PAAMOA) to provide a programme of activities aimed at ensuring that we ‘Look After Ourselves’ and continue to live a happy, healthy and active lifestyle into the future.
The Chinese philosophy of ‘use it or lose it,’ runs strongly through the senior population of Gibraltar who not only benefit from keeping their bodies and minds agile and active but also thoroughly enjoy the social interaction offered by taking part in programmes such as these.
The weekly programme includes:
Mondays 9 to 10am Aqua Fit – Swimming and exercises in the GSLA big

Tuesdays 9.45 to 11am Bayside Sports Centre – Power Walking -
fitness trail; no curbs, traffic or fumes. A great way to start the day. No need to book just turn up.
10.30am to 12noon Kings Bastion Leisure Centre - Ten pin Bowling - Special price for members of PAAMOA and a free cup of coffee. Expert advice on how to play the game. Telephone 20077338 or e-mail [email protected] for further information
Kings Bastion Leisure Centre -Mobility & Chair Exercise Session - Primarily for those over the age of 70 years, it aims to maintain mobility, muscle strength and co-ordination. The two sessions are held in the morning, times confirmed on being accepted into the class. 10am to 12noon –Swimming - Senior citizens swimming in the

Wednesdays 9.30 to 11am -Yoga for Mature older adults - Fantastic
exercise for mature older adults held at the Yoga centre, Town Range led by Karen Avellino one of Gibraltar’s most experienced Yoga instructors. Telephone 20041389 for further info on the types of Yoga held at the Integral Yoga Centre
11am to 1pm Bayside Sports Centre – Recreation
Morning for seniorsBadminton, table tennis, soft tennis and carpet bowls, for men and women. Please wear white soled training shoes and bring along a drink. (Time slot available subject to availability) Telephone 20076522 for further information.
11am to 11.45am GSLA small pool – Introduction to Aqua exercise for beginners and frail older adults. A session aimed at introducing members to controlled mobility and strength exercises, using the water to aid muscle tone whilst reducing stress to joints.

Thursdays Exercise to Music Classes - Bayside Sports Centre
9.15 to 10am - Aimed at ages 55 to 67, a low impact class which includes warm up, mobility, cardio-vascular work, muscular strength and endurance and co-ordination.
10.15 to 11am - Aimed at 68 years and over a slightly more controlled class which concentrates on mobility, controlled aerobic exercise and core stability. Telephone 20076522 for further information.
Saturdays 1 to 3pm –Swimming- Senior Citizens swimming in the GSLA small pool. Lifeguard on duty. Tel 20066118 for further information.
11am to 1pm- Tai Chiat the Yoga Centre - This gentle form of martial arts is superb for encouraging the body to look after itself and find its natural balance. Email: [email protected] or telephone 20078714for info on costs etc.
Aqua Aerobics, Aqua Fit & Pilates PAAMOA have an extensive programme of Aqua Aerobics, water fitness and Pilates activities for seniors.
