Jan 10 - Gibraltar Come Out Top in Futsal Friendly

futsalGibraltar won 4 – 3 in last night’s Futsal friendly with Malta, held at the Tercentenary Sports Hall. The team’s success follows on from a promising start to UEFA grade Futsal, last May, when the GFA beat San Marino. The team recently attended a tournament in Poland, which served to develop the team and help them gain experience for the UEFA qualifiers in 2015, for 2016’s European Cup.

Formerly, Coach Mario Prescott explained that the team was relatively new and many players came from a background of 11 a side football. Despite this, the team proved they are ready for next year’s qualifiers.

The match kicked off at 8pm and was streamed live on the Internet for those who were unable to attend. A further friendly with Malta, who currently stand at 45 on the rankings is set for Saturday evening at 8pm. Tickets are available from the GFA HQ at the Victoria Stadium Boathouse, and on the door a couple of hours before kick off.
