Mar 06 - 2 – 0 Loss for Gibraltar in Inaugural UEFA Friendly

gfaWith a much better performance from the GFA, than during Saturday night’s friendly against the Faroe Islands, Estonia’s national team yesterday beat the home side 2 – 0 at the Victoria Stadium.

The match marked former Stoke and Chester Defender Danny Higginbotham’s last ever football game. He was met with a standing ovation from the crowd as he departed the pitch in the last half of the match, to make way for the GFA’s Jamie Robba.

Goals were scored by Dimitri Kruglov and Remo Hunt, during the first and second halves of the match. A couple of very near misses for the GFA were shot by Kyle Casciaro and Joseph Chipolina. The team played a similar defence to their hugely successful match against Slovakia last November. Estonia is currently ranked 14 positions higher than the GFA.

The two teams will play a further friendly in Estonia, in May.
