Jul 16 - Re-Vamped Team Gibraltar to Participate in Thundercats British National Championships 2014
Following the success of the Thundercats British National Championships held in Gibraltar last year, the freshly formed Gibraltar Team will once again participate in the competition, with team members Leslie Figueras and Albert Perez manning their new vessel, purchased with the help of funding from the Ministry for Sport and Culture.
The team, dubbed team 55, took part in the final round of last year’s British National Championships, however the high cost of participating and not being competitive against teams with their own race set-ups, meant the team had to re-evaluate its ambitions. This weekend however, the team will roll out its new race set up, with the hopes of qualifying for the European Championships to be held in Gibraltar early this October.
The team’s vessels, featuring the national colours of red white has been branded ‘Aquarius Aquacat’.
