Aug 01 - Gibraltar Referee Appointed For Under-15 Milk Cup Final
Gibraltar FA Category 2 Referee Glen Gilbert, who has this week been refereeing in the prestigious Northern Ireland Milk Cup, has today been appointed to referee the U15 Final where County Down will face Motherwell FC.
This competition attracts a large number of academy teams from clubs in the Premier League and other top clubs in Europe and America providing valuable experience to up and coming referees.
Glen has competed with promising referees from the British Isles for appointments in the final stages of this week-long competition. His performances in the group stage earned him a semi-final appointment yesterday enjoying a great refereeing performance. This resulted in him receiving the brilliant news of refereeing today’s U15 Final kicking off at noon Gibraltar time.
Glen started his refereeing career in Season 2010/11. He has steadily progressed through the different Gibraltar FA football categories.
The Gibraltar FA’s Director of Refereeing, Adrian Bacarisa has stated:
“I am extremely happy for Glen. The hard work he has put in to his development as a referee has been rewarded by a Final appointment in the prestigious Milk Cup. This proves that with the right attitude a promising Gibraltar referee can achieve great results. This will undoubtedly make Glen’s refereeing skills grow tremendously in his quest to achieve his next promotion in the Gibraltar refereeing ladder.”
