Aug 08 - Stay And Play Kids Visit Commonwealth Park

Children and Leaders from the Stay and Play Programme, part of the Summer Sports & Leisure Programme sponsored by NatWest visited the Commonwealth Park on Tuesday 5th August.

Dulcie Edwards and the Stay and Play leaders led Capoeira sessions in the beautiful surroundings of the park encouraging youngsters to exercise and develop their overall muscle tone.

The Stay and Play group remained at the Commonwealth Park from 10:30 to 12:00, with leaders working on different objectives for each child. For some children the aim of the visit was to develop movement abilities and exercise, while other children were encouraged to interact with others whilst taking in the beauty and greenery of the park. The Stay and Play leaders tailor all sessions to meet goals best suited each child’s needs, a strategy that has succeeded in engaging each child’s imagination and development throughout the programme.

The GSLA’s Stay and Play Programme will continue throughout the summer and includes sporting and creative activities within the stadium as well as future visits to offsite locations.
