Feb 10 - Gibraltar FA President Steps Down

The Gibraltar FA says it regrets to announce that President Desmond Reoch has stepped down from his role, for personal reasons, with immediate effect.

Mr Reoch has issued the following statement:

“After over three years within the Gibraltar FA Council, and the best part of two years as President, I have decided, for personal reasons, that is it the right time to step down and hand over the reigns to somebody else.

“Over the past two years I have been honoured to be the Gibraltar FA President and overseeing significant milestones in the history of Gibraltar Football, such as our first ever International Match v Slovakia, our first ever International Victory v Malta, our First ever European Qualifying Campaign, Women’s Development Tournaments, International Futsal Tournaments and Champions League and Europa League football being played on the Rock.

“I would like to thank all of those who have supported me in my time as President. The position has been the undoubted pinnacle of my lifelong involvement in local football. I will always be a huge supporter of the Gibraltar FA and i wish my successor, and the GFA, all the very best for the future.”

As a result of Mr Reoch’s departure, the current Vice-President, Michael Llamas QC, takes over as Interim President of the Gibraltar FA until such time as an EGM is held to elect Mr Reoch’s successor.

The Gibraltar FA says it would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Reoch for all his hard work as President and indeed for his lifetime’s dedication to Gibraltarian football. The Gibraltar FA wishes Mr Reoch all the best for the future.
