Jun 03 - Gibraltar All Set For Island Games In Jersey

Gibraltar is ready for the NatWest Island Games XV1 Jersey 2015. With less than a month to go, the final squad names have now been entered into the system.

The total contingent for Gibraltar is 189, which includes athletes, coaches, medical staff and media.

The numbers for each sport are as follows:

Athletics: 21                                          

Badminton: 8

Basketball (men and women): 30      

Cycling: 6

Football (men and women): 46                                          

Sailing: 5

Shooting clay: 6    

Shooting pistol: 15

Shooting rifle: 8                                             

Swimming: 16

Tennis: 3                                             

Triathlon: 10

The team leaves Gibraltar on Friday 26^th June on a charter flight direct to Jersey and returns on the 4^th July. The opening ceremony is on Saturday 27^th June and, hopefully, it should be available to view online live.    

The Rock’s flag bearer for Gibraltar is Robert Brooks, a badminton coach who has attended many previous games. The water carrier is a young rifle shooter attending his first games, Brandon Robinson.
