In a report documenting the progress made on commitments spoken about during the 2012 Joint Ministerial Council, which sees Ministers from both the UK and it’s Overseas Territories meet to discuss Government developments, the Gibraltar Government has insisted that we will shortly see the launch of it’s e-Government manifesto commitment.
The Royal Gibraltar Post Office has requested that its customers make their Christmas online / catalogue purchases as early as possible to ensure that the parcels arrive in time for the festive period.
In line with the international trend, letter, packet and parcel mail to Gibraltar has substantially increased recently as more business is being done on-line. It is essential that postal items arrive promptly in Gibraltar so as to give the RGPO the best possible chance of delivering them before Christmas.
The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia delivered one of the lead interventions in the discussions on the economy, which are taking place at the Joint Ministerial Council (JMC) in London. This brings together Overseas Territories Ministers with different UK Government Ministers.
He said that the most immediate, direct challenges to the economy of Gibraltar came not from the world economic crisis but from political decisions taken in both London and Madrid. He accused the Spanish Government of seeking to undermine the economy of Gibraltar by effectively blocking the frontier and threatening action elsewhere.
